This policy explains how rivorestaurant.ro, operated by VIKING SRL, uses cookies and similar technologies, in accordance with Romanian Law no. 506/2004 on personal data processing in the electronic communications sector and Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).
1. What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember actions and preferences (login, language, consent, etc.) over time.
We also use similar technologies (local storage) which work on the same principles.
2. Categories of cookies used
2.1 Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the operation of the Site and cannot be disabled. Legal basis: art. 5(3) of Romanian Law no. 506/2004 (strictly-necessary exemption) and art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest - Site security and honouring the data subject's expressed preferences). No consent required.
The cookieframe_consent cookie is classified as strictly necessary because it stores only your cookie choice (accepted / rejected / granular preferences); without it, the banner would reappear on every visit and we would be unable to honour withdrawal of consent.

2.2 Analytics cookies (consent required)
Help us understand how the Site is used, in aggregate and pseudonymous form. Legal basis: art. 6(1)(a) GDPR - freely given consent via the cookie banner. Activated only if you accept explicitly.

Google Analytics collects pseudonymised data and uses truncated IPs. For details: policies.google.com/privacy.
2.3 Marketing cookies
We currently do NOT use marketing, advertising or retargeting cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads, etc.).
3. Third-party technologies that may set cookies or access your IP
- Map (CARTO + OpenStreetMap) - when the map loads on the Contact page, your browser connects to these providers' servers, which see your IP.
- Google Tag Manager - container that loads other tags (currently only GA4) after consent.
4. Managing consent
On your first visit, a cookie banner is displayed with the options:
- Accept all - enables all categories;
- Reject all - keeps only strictly necessary cookies;
- Preferences - select categories individually.
You can change your preferences at any time via the "Cookie preferences" link in the Site footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing.
If we introduce new cookie categories in the future (for example marketing), the banner will be re-shown to obtain a separate consent before activation.
